Richard Rogers


Richard is passionate about all matters relating to people with disabilities. He has spent countless hours attending to disability tax law matters and has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in this specialist area of tax.

Richard is registered as Master Tax Practitioner with the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT); the largest of the professional tax bodies in South Africa.

He completed a BCom Degree at Rhodes University, majoring in Management Accounting & Finance, Accounting, and Taxation. Amongst other achievements, Richard was invited to join the Golden Key International Honour Society and was placed on the Dean’s List by the Dean of Commerce.

Richard obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation from Rhodes University. Richard received the Grant Thornton award for topping his class and the Deloitte & Touche award for the best tax research paper.

He received his MCom (Taxation) Degree from Rhodes University and his thesis topic was the tax relief that is available to families where there is a person with a “disability”.

Whilst at Bendels Consulting, Richard has made submissions on behalf of people with disabilities to National Treasury and the SARS Legal & Policy Division to inform them of necessary changes to the qualifying diagnosis criteria and allowable expenditure items; Richard is a voice for this group of taxpayers.

On a regular basis, Richard participates in fundraising races in support of various disability-related charities. As an expert in his specialist field, Richard conducts pro-bono presentations at special needs schools and other organisations across the country to inform people of the available tax relief.
